Analyst Positions
Our Patent Analysts aren’t afraid to debate with attorneys; they formulate, articulate, and argue their findings.
Does this sound like you?
As an analyst, you’ll use these skills to address the technical aspects of intellectual property cases. As opposed to most engineering jobs, there’s a quantifiable outcome for your tasks—and it doesn’t take years to see tangible results of your work. Your analysis will help Erise secure patents or win in litigation on behalf of our clients. You don’t need any previous legal experience or knowledge of intellectual property, we’ll train you on the job.
Still unsure if you meet the qualifications? We’ve dispelled some common myths about becoming an analyst at Erise.
Do I need law experience? Do I need a law degree?
No! You don’t have to come into the role with patent law experience. You will gain experience on the job, and Erise will provide on-the-job training and learning opportunities.
Do you only hire engineers?
No, but you must have a “hard” science background. You will be expected to pass the patent bar while you are at the firm, so applicants must meet U.S. Patent and Trademark Office requirements.
Do I need to know how to work as a patent analyst before you hire me?
Again, no! This job works as an apprenticeship so you learn on the job as you go. We want your critical thinking skills and we’ll show you how to use them as a patent analyst.
Will I need to work the same hours as an associate attorney because I’m at a law firm?
No. There’s a difference between the two paths and we understand that people who want to become patent analysts may not (and often do not) want to become lawyers.
Are the partners and attorneys intimidating?
Not at all. Everyone at Erise communicates with team members on all levels. We encourage questions so that we all can continue learning.
I’m a Computer Science major. Will I code actual application software or use any web development coding in this role?
We might review someone else’s code, but you won’t be working in code development or creation in this job.
