Erise IP Secures Win for Sony’s PlayStation and Gameloft

//

Erise IP led Sony and Gameloft to victory in a three-year patent infringement battle with Rothschild Digital Media Innovations.

Rothschild filed suit against Sony in 2014, claiming the PlayStation’s technology infringed on its patent, and then sued Gameloft in 2015. Erise challenged the claims by filing an inter partes review (IPR) with the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). The PTAB ruled in favor of Sony and Gameloft on all challenged claims. Rothschild appealed, and on Dec. 13, the Federal Circuit affirmed the PTAB decision.

Sony and Gameloft were led by Abran Kean, a Partner in Erise’s Denver office; Eric Buresh, a Partner in Erise’s Kansas City office, also represented the companies.
