Erise Secures Sony PTAB Win

//

Erise IP recently landed a victory for Sony in a lawsuit accusing the company’s PlayStation 4 gaming system of patent infringement.

According to the Law360 story, “Sony Gets Handheld Device Patent Axed in AIA Review,” the PTAB (Patent Trial and Appeal Board) ruled in favor of Sony in a May 10 decision that invalidated a patent related to hand-held devices owned by Aplix IP Holdings Corp. Aplix had accused Sony of infringing on the patent.

“In a final written decision, the board said Sony Computer Entertainment America LLC had shown each of the patent’s 20 claims were invalid because they were obvious in light of earlier inventions,” Law360 reported.

Erise partners Eric Buresh and Abran Kean represented Sony in the case.
