As the leader of Erise’s trademark practice, Carrie counsels clients in all aspects of trademark prosecution and enforcement, including trademark selection, clearance, portfolio management, monitoring, licensing, cease and desists, as well as litigation and transactions.

Ranked among the world’s leading trademark professionals in the WTR 1000, Carrie works with clients to understand their businesses, their markets, and how their trademark strategy and portfolio can be developed and refined to gain the best protection for their brands. Her background makes her ideally suited for this advisor role; she earned her bachelor’s degree in film and television. Carrie credits this experience for shaping her ability to relate to creative executives and marketing teams – and finding a balance between design aesthetic and legal constraints.

Carrie’s extensive litigation experience goes beyond just trademark issues, as she has litigated patent, trade secret, and copyright cases spanning a wide range of industries, including video games, toys, wearable technology, GPS, telecommunications, x-ray technology, vehicle and truck parts, and consumer products. Her experience and success has led to her being named to the Rising Stars list by Super Lawyers in IP litigation. Prior to joining Erise, Carrie clerked for the Kansas Supreme Court; clients benefit from her real-world perspective and knowledge of the inner-workings of courts.

She is a frequent speaker and author on trademark and IP topics. She has presented to or been published by Bloomberg BNA, JD Supra, Ingram’s magazine, and the Kansas Women Attorneys Association, among others.
