Sten Larson

Associate

Professional Profile

Sten’s practice is focused on intellectual property litigation, particularly inter partes review (IPR). Prior to joining Erise, Sten worked as a patent prosecutor for mechanical devices, ranging from mining equipment to fishing gear. This experience gives him unique insight into the workings of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, particularly with respect to the effect of prosecution history on the allowed claim set.

As a mechanical engineer, Sten has broad understanding of multiple fields, which allows him to quickly understand new technologies. Before law school, Sten worked on the hydraulic and fluid systems of Navy submarines, and he draws on this practical experience to understand the interworking of parts in complex systems.
