Erise Secures Second Consecutive IPR Win for Client Sony at PTAB

//

Erise shareholder Eric A. Buresh, along with senior counsel Jason R. Mudd and senior technical advisor Kathleen D. Fitterling, recently successfully represented the petitioner, Sony Interactive Entertainment, in a second consecutive successful inter partes review (IPR) proceeding.

The underlying case was first filed by Bot M8 in 2019, alleging that Sony’s PlayStation 4 console and games infringed five of its patents, including the subject patent related to a “gaming machine, gaming information authentication and acquisition device, and gaming information acquisition device.” Last week, the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) found all claims of the patent to be unpatentable under all grounds presented by the Erise team.  This was the second consecutive win following a win on a separate patent owned by Bot M8 earlier this fall.
