After analyzing petitions at the Patent Trial and Appeal Board for 2021, Managing IP ranked Erise the No. 16 law firm for petitioners in inter partes review (IPR) proceedings.
This ranking is the latest example of the firm punching above its proverbial weight class; with 23 attorneys, Erise is the smallest law firm on the list. Of the other law firms in the top 20, the next-smallest has 276 lawyers – more than ten times the size of Erise – while the largest has nearly 3,000.
Erise also is the only Kansas City-based firm to be ranked.

This ranking follows the firm’s November 2021 recognition by Patexia, which placed Erise in the top 1.3 percent of all law firms at the PTAB. Patexia also ranked three Erise shareholders, Jennifer Bailey, Eric Buresh and Adam Seitz, in the top 100 for both “most active” and “best performing” attorneys at the PTAB when representing petitioners.
