Callie applies her technical expertise in the fields of electronics, software engineering, physics, and control systems to complex patent litigation and inter partes review (IPR). She has nearly two decades of experience serving consumer electronics clients, including leaders in GPS, sensors, image processing, location tracking, fitness devices, flying toys, wireless communications, and video game consoles, as well as clients in the software and cybersecurity industries.
As a primary drafter of IPRs since the procedure began in 2013, Callie has lifetime institution rate of 90% and has been ranked among the top IPR practitioners for petitioners in the country by Patexia, an independent research group. By contrast, the average institution rate of petitions at the Patent Trial and Appeal Board since 2020 is 60%. In a recent example of her success, a patent owner disclaimed over half of the Challenged Claims following IPRs Callie filed on behalf of Erise’s client, a global leader in consumer electronics.
In an example of her litigation abilities, Callie was the lead technical analyst in a case where Erise won summary judgment on non-infringement that wiped out a $500 million patent infringement claim against Erise’s client and its industry-leading video game consoles. In addition to her success in IPRs and litigation, Callie also performs offensive and defensive patent review; patent invalidity/validity analysis; patent clearance searches; patent landscape analysis; and source code review.
